The grant is part of the Hyundai ST Math Initiative, which aims to improve the math skills of young students and propel them toward high school graduation and college success, especially in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. Spring students are among thousands in four metro areas across the nation selected to receive the grant from Hyundai through a partnership with the nonprofit MIND Research Institute, which develops ST Math®. Draper, Superintendent, Spring Independent School District • Joan Harding, Principal, Burchett Elementary • Youshawna Hunt, Principal, Bammel Elementary **About the Hyundai ST Math Initiative** The Hyundai ST Math Initiative will benefit over 6,000 students and 200 teachers in Chicago; New York City; Spring, Texas and Pinellas, Florida. Hyundai Motor America is providing grants to 15 high-need elementary schools in these markets to provide a unique research-based ST Math instructional software, teacher training and ongoing educational support. The visually-based ST Math program has been shown to double or triple schools’ growth rates in math proficiency.
