In our personal life, this support might manifest in celebrating milestones and successes together, sending hand-written cards of congratulations, supporting a friend’s business by buying a bajillion “amazing” products, purchasing tickets to attend a fundraising event for a cause your friend supports, donating to your friend’s marathon campaign, buying wrapping paper from the neighbor kid … the list goes on and on.  Some friends go above and beyond and provide direct help. I’ve experienced this with my friends’ support of the nonprofit organization I work for, MIND Research Institute. “Sure I’ll volunteer for your charity event ... again.” Some friends go a step further still and serve as connectors. “Sure, I’ll help.  And have you met so-and-so? I’m sure he would want to get involved.  Let me introduce you!”  ## Friendships That Last If you are very fortunate, you hit the jackpot: “Sure I’ll donate, I’ll volunteer, I’ll bring others to help, I’ll introduce you to people who have the same goal to partner with you, and I’ll host the party that brings it all together.” That friend is gold. An irreplaceable partner who just makes life easier—and often much more fun! Well, social benefit organizations like MIND need the same type of partners—the same type of friends—to accomplish our mission. To provide the impact we have set out to accomplish, we *need* partners who support us in a variety of ways. MIND is fortunate to have many donor partners, all of whom deserve our praise and gratitude. (BRT, by the way, named MIND’s innovative math program as [1 of the 5 most effective STEM programs](http://blog.mindresearch.org/blog/bid/341714/ST-Math-Receives-Well-Deserved-Recognition) in the nation and encouraged business leaders to target their philanthropic support toward scaling proven solutions.) In addition to being impressed by fantastic [ST Math student outcomes](http://www.mindresearch.org/results/), the Rockwell Automation team spent time getting to know MIND Research Institute as an organization, asking us and challenging us to identify what type of support we needed to scale both ST Math usage and our own organizational capacity to accomplish our mission. And then, after providing our answers, they agreed to support the proposed plan primarily in the Milwaukee, WI, area during the 2016-17 school year. Where was this support directed? - Scaling ST Math by bringing ST Math to Vieau Elementary - New program/education games development and piloting with local youth organizations as well as a collaboration opportunity at a national level (to whom they offered us the introduction) - Professional development for teachers at Vieau Elementary and Rogers Street Academy - Capacity-building through sponsoring our participation in Georgetown University’s “New Strategies Program—Revenue Generation for the Non-Profit Executive” - MathMINDs activities, specifically Family Math Nights in Milwaukee and the development of volunteer training modules to be used nationwide And, as if all of that was not enough, they honored our request to have a portion of the investment allocated to general operating support, allowing our executive team to determine where that investment can best help MIND grow.  ![RApartnership.jpg](https://2024.mindresearch.org/hs-fs/hubfs/MIND_Research_Institute/Philanthropy/RApartnership.jpg?width=478&height=300&name=RApartnership.jpg) To have that level of strategic investment in an organization is a gift.
