Teams of one or more students, along with a teacher or parent in a coordinator role, invented card games, board games, apps, and outdoor games that addressed one or more mathematical topics. Throughout the process, students developed critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration skills and more. The challenge is designed to help students engage in math outside of the traditional classroom environment, providing an avenue to promote [creative thinking](http://blog.mindresearch.org/blog/guiding-students-to-deeper-learning-in-math-through-game-design) in mathematics. Thank you to all of our participating students, mentors and schools! This year we had entries from 10 different states across the country. We also received our first internal entries from Te Awamutu, New Zealand. > "Being part of the Game-a-thon judges was an awesome experience. It was great seeing the unique designs created by children around the world. I was surprised to see how creative all the children were on their games. I thought the Game-a-thon was a great way for the children to portray their abilities and allow them to develop new skills. By The World of Math from Hillsborough in Tampa, Florida From the judges: "Presentation of the game was very clear and well organized. I liked the different levels of questions you would get and that you had to solve in less than 5 minutes."     ###### Imagine-Math By Team X from a homeschooler in Lake Forest, California From the judges: "For me this is the best regardless of the score, really love how this game has more then one subject in math and you are playing against another player which makes it fun!"     ###### Two Faced By The Three Faces from Vineland Public Schools in Vineland, New Jersey From the judges: "It is so original, even includes a back story to it. Also, love how you really have to challenge yourself to use multiplication or division to find another equivalent fraction."     ###### It's Raining Numbers!
