As we talked about last week, when we shared the [iConic Bounce house](https://blog.mindresearch.net/blog/bid/391405/2014-Math-Fair-At-the-Square-Root-of-Fun), the entire MIND Research team is getting excited for the[2014 Math Fair: *At the Square Root of Fun*](http://www.mindresearch.net/mathfair/). Today we are highlighting the Lil’ Mathematician Zone, an experience designed especially for math fair participants who are in preschool, transitional kindergarten or kindergarten.

**Lil’ Mathematician Zone**

The Lil’ Mathematician Zone is all about providing opportunities for little ones to explore math concepts through creative play. The adventure begins when these budding mathematicians enter an outdoorsy wonderland. A 6-foot-tall JiJi topiary is surrounded by greenery and play zones that include floor puzzles, kinetic sand tables, marble runs and Lego Duplo walls. As children explore shapes and gain experience comparing, sorting and analyzing, they will be learning about geometry, number sense and even algebra skills. In addition to identifying key characteristics of different shapes, they will develop their budding spatial reasoning skills by visualizing shapes in different positions and learn to describe the direction, distance and location of objects in space. Lil’ Mathematician Zone visitors will also be developing their motor skills and language skills.
